Research

Cheaper by the dozen 2 :
The title sequence of Cheaper By The Dozen 2 starts with camera showing the floor, the car then pulls up the camera showing the front of the car. Then camera then moves to the side of the car, still at a low level to show someone getting out of the car showing there legs and all the people getting out. In this opening sequence there is a Low level, mid-shot, up-beat music, crane and aerial view along with a variety of other shots.

Chicago:

In the opening secquence of Chicargo there is an extreme zooming close up of an eye, which zooms into the pupil of the eye then zooming out to see the words Chicago, there is also a close up of a mouth, as well as a zoom out of light - panning up and up beat music. other conventions that are in this title sequence are as follows: a low level camera shot of ladies legs in heels with the camera following them, a zoom in on a poster following a character, a close up on everything not showing face the characters face to create a sense of mistery, something thrown over the camera then the scene is changed, lthere is then a low level again, a long shot- low head lights come up and the camera finally reveals who the character is.

Storm breaker:

Storm Breaker begins with a black background and white titles, it uses special effects starting of blurry then slowly comeing into focus, the music has a steady beat. Also included in this title sequence is a pan and a long shot of the whole room from back then from front as soon as someone’s is mentioned/something it shows you it. the transitions in this title sequence consists of alot of straight cuts to different camera which contraficts everthing that he says.

10 things I hate about you:

This title sequence's titles have a chalky animated effect on the writing, the town then comes up and it has the same effect as the writting which makes it look drawn before going into a normal, then pans, upbeat music as it pans it zooms.

50 first dates:

In this title sequence the titles ripple like waves which ties in with the Hawaiian music that is playing. An image slowly moves and focuses on a pineapple then the picture behind it changes but the pineapple still there. This is all revelvant to the Hawaiian theme and sets the scene of the film.

Step up 2:

The titles to Step Up 2 starts with a low level. Then it has a memory and it shows this by saturated colours, the music is also distant like her memory, there is a narrator over the top. All of these conventions make the opening Sequence very momory like.

Edward scissor hands:

very zoomed in/cant work out what it is, door extreme close up and the opens then you go through it, titles white font on black background that flies in then the two words open like scissors, everything’s very zoomed (out of the ordinary) and the writings in odd shapes, low lighting, eerie/sad music, pictures/sequences fade into each other, looks as if its falling then it goes black and odd shapes appear like cookies then light comes back on and shows all the shapes, zooms out on pictures, zooms all the way out until you get an over the shoulder shot so it looks like everything you saw was a point of view shot.

Billy Elliot:
Close up on someone putting a record on a record player. Low level of record player in fore ground and feet jumping in the background (hard to workout what’s happening). Cuts to high level so that all you can see is the top of the boys head every time he jumps up. Wall paper in background blurred. Zooms out slightly to a mid shot and the wall paper comes into focus. Zooms in on different parts of his body when his in the air. Zooms out to long shot.

Sweeney Todd:
Black background slowly mist is coming over it, thick unrealistic rain starts to fall, shows a town and zooms in on a window on which a blood drop has splat. Cuts to a painting and zooms out of it, follows blood drops around onto ornaments and into the machines and everything then sizzling in the oven with pies.

Location

You’ve got mail: This film starts with a computer screen as if the character has just received mail. It then shows you the whole of the town then clicking on a house and zooming in. The town looks very computerised and almost Sim like. in a town in a house the beginning is coming through the window looking round the room and going into the bedroom. It then comes into real life and a normal house is shown. it then zooms in through the window and into the house. You can slightly see the bathroom in the background and there is a packed living room where he is.

Addicted to love: It is set in what looks like a science lab and also in a park. The science lab is hectic and the park is calm and pretty. The man is in the science lab and the woman is in the park with loads of children round them.http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hEdGsJwq4-s

Pitch

Premise

A girl and boy arrange to meet up after having a brief relationship online. Neither of them are aware that they are from two different worlds.

Genre

The genre that we have chosen to make our film on is Romantic Comedy. We thought that it would be ideal to use this drama as it makes every believe in true love. Some films in this genre include: Sex and the city; there’s something about Mary and 27 dresses.

Target Audience

The target audience for our film is adults aged around 20 years and younger. This film is a romantic comedy and the general target audience for this is aged 20. We think that if they are a lot younger than this may not understand it. To ensure we had a correct target audience we sent out a questionnaire to find out people's likes and dislikes. We found that the target audience we estimated was correct. People stereotypically referred to romantic comedies as having a couple who fall in love despite their differences.

Plot

A girl is talking to a boy on the Internet and he eventually asks to meet up. The girl is hesitant to reply but says yes in the end. The girl believes that the boy is a really fit boy but really he is a geek. The girl gets ready with her friends and arranges to meet the boy at Billericay station. When the boy gets off the train to meet the girl she is shocked to see who the real boy is. We decided that we would make the boy seem like an outcast and a stereotypical geek as this would attract the audience and show the representation of different stereotypes within our film.

Narrative Hook

We have decided to make a shot of a really fit guy so that the audience think that is who she is meeting this makes the audience want to watch on.

Props Planning

Glasses

We have decided to use geek glass with tape wrapped around them, as it is a typical stereotype of a geek. It also emphasises the fact that she think she is meeting someone really fit and then he turns up. The use of the tape shows that he could be clumsy therefore always breaking his glasses and just using tape because he can’t afford to buy new ones.
Hair gel

We decided to use hair gel, as it will make everything think that the boy is really cool spiking his hair up. During the getting ready section of the film we never see his face so these props are essential for the audience to establish an image of the person. We have used props to make it look like the boy is cool and then we have decided to make him geeky to fall everyone into thinking he is cool.
Laptop

The laptop is a common indicator of young people. The use of msn on laptop is also an indicator to the audience that although we cannot see the people’s faces they are off a young age (university students). We have also decided to show a picture of a fit guy, as this will make the audience think that that is whom she is going to meet.
Nail Varnish

We decided to use nail varnish, as it will look like a girly night in getting all dressed up to meet a boy. It will show closeness with the girl and her friends. She is going to meet a boy and the girls friends are helping her to get ready by doing her hair nails and make up.
Train Ticket

We decided to use a train ticket to make it look like he was actually making the train journey. We decided to make the credits appear on the train ticket, as it is an interesting use of a prop. This prop will indicate the fact that he has travelled to meet this girl.
